Explorers Fly Off for a New Adventure

On Tuesday 12th July 2011, several explorers went to Bowland Forest Gliding Club to have a chance to fly a glider.

Explorers and leaders took a winch launch in a 2-seater training glider with a BGA qualified vountary instructor at the gliding club near Waddecar. Once launched and at crusing flight, the instructors taught the explorers and leaders the basics of flying the aircraft and explorers got the oppertunity to fly the gliders themselves.
Here are what some explorers had to say about their experience:
"It very good as it is an experience that does not come up so often so I was happy to have the opportunity, I had an amazing time and felt very safe and didn't want the flight to end." - Jack
"It was a really good experience and being in the air was brilliant and oddly peaceful. Taking off was really fast and the landing was rough but really fun. Overall a great time." - Oliver
